Christmas Community Art Studio

Christmas Community Art Studio

I was honoured to receive an invitation to be an artist in residence and exhibit my work as part of a collective of 19 local artists celebrating the diversity and creativity of Battersea, Nine Elms. The artists were responding to central piece - the amazing mural by @adalberto_lonardi

I was invited to visit the studio and respond to the mural and the theme in my own style and media, to create an exhibition of work that would be on display for the duration of the project.

Nine Elms Arts Ministry who had teamed up with art’otel to bring together artists, community and hotel guests in an interactive, festive installation. All this within the Ar’tbeat studio of the stunning Art’otel London opposite Battersea Power Station.

"Children of Bethlehem," was my creative response to the Nativity mural project led by the amazing Adalberto Lonardi.

Against the backdrop of uncertainty, three children run toward the brilliance of a guiding star, embodying the optimism we find in the next generation. I have attempted to capture the essence of possibility, dreams, and the unwavering belief in a peaceful future amidst troubled times.

The star, a beacon of light, represents not only celestial wonders but also the aspirations we reach for in our lives, and on the collective journey we share as humanity.

The piece was prompted by the news about Christmas being cancelled in Bethlehem this year.
