ARTS FOR SANCTUARY
(Reflecting Wandsworth Borough of Sanctuary and All Saints as a Church of Sanctuary)
It was an honour to be invited to exhibit at The Sanctuary event at All Saints Church, Tooting as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2024
The idea of this was to create a space where people feel held by various artistic forms – music, visual art, crafting, storytelling, stillness to explore their inner world and the complexity of the outer world. There was an exhibition, talks, music, storytelling and meditative activities that people could come and engage with how they thought fit for themselves.
I exhibited 2 pieces. One was a collective community art installation by the ladies of Mushkil Aasaan. And the other was a painting - a creative response to the brief.

This piece delves into the search for sanctuary amidst chaos. The swirling strokes embody confusion and turbulence, while the figure turns inward, seeking solace. Yet, in the midst of it all, there’s an embrace –both metaphorical and figurative – a reminder that sometimes, the comfort we seek is as simple and profound as the act of holding on, whether to ourselves or something deeper.
