A simple 'NO' from Rosa Parks created history. She refused to give up her seat for a white man on a Montgomery bus in December 1955. Her stance against racism invigorated the struggle for racial equality which was a turning point in the American Civil Rights Movement. Parks' activism earned her the accolade of being the 'First Lady of Civil Rights' and 'The Mother of the Freedom Movement'.
