I was sorting out paperwork and notebooks with my morning cuppa when I came across an old sketchbook with an unfinished doodle of an elephant. Should I have kept sorting the shelf or should I have stopped everything to finish the sketch? You can guess the answer! 😉 I wasn’t born in India and I have lived many more years away from India than in. But I feel my connection to art and culture of the country is much more heartfelt than genetic! The richness of the Indian arts is quite unparalleled and I feel utmost gratitude that my work is influenced by it on a deeply personal level. Since the elephant is such a revered creature in India, I decided to go full blown Indian this Sunday morning! 🐘✨ Madhubani, Pattachitra, Kalamkari – no not tongue twisters- but some of the very many folk arts that form the rich cultural heritage of India. 🇮🇳 Maybe it was the warm and fuzzy feeling reconnecting with my childhood or maybe it was the bright sunshine through my window, but my morning cuppa never tasted this good! ☕️ If only all Sundays could be like this…..💖
Doodling is to me, what yodelling is to a Bavarian minstrel 🎻. I just can’t stop myself!Though my pen wanders seemingly aimlessly on paper, it helps focus my mind on thoughts and ideas.I have been thinking of LOVE lately. In state of the world and Earth we are in, it seems to have gotten lost …
Sometimes when doodling, the pen sketches out a shape, which, though downright bizarre-looking gives me the idea for my next artwork. I present to you the Iris– beautifully bizarre shaped flower that was a product of such a doodle adventure. 💐🌺
When I was younger and felt a bout of procrastination setting in, this quote by Kabiguru Tagore always snapped me back on track- You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.
