Sometimes sketches don’t just end up in a sketchbook. Sometimes, they end up as a paper-craft, 3-D, pop-up card. This was a very special commission for a very special lady. The brief was quite simple: a card that could sit on the mantle for longer than just her birthday. Accompanied with a list of her favourite flowers and a poem. And voila! This was what it culminated in. My love for ‘building’ things has been an integral part of me since I was a kid. My love for building blocks as a child made me think that I would be an architect one day. Much later I realised I actually enjoyed the act of building things myself, rather than plan on paper. Needless to say, I am not an architect! But I still get to create things on such a personal level as part of my job. Ever ever so lucky and grateful for that.
